This event is free but donations to AllGoSigns are graciously accepted. Doors open at 8pm. Music starts at 9pm with the Oblique Orchestra (free jazz) opening. This should be a great night for more experimental music.

Sunday, December 11, 2011 starting at 8:30pm @ Beachland Tavern (13998 Cedar Rd. University Heights, OH 44118). PSI-Paul Stranahan’s Insomnia will open up for Eastern Blok. This should be a great show. PSI will feature for the first time a two guitar attack with Tim Mirth and Jeremey Poparad on his new manly 9 string guitar. Matt DeRubertis on bass will join Paul on drums. Then EASTERN BLOK will perform whose “extraordinary pan-cultural ensemble effortlessly blends classical and jazz music with the rich folkloric traditions of Macedonia, Bulgaria, and Serbia. The resulting music is as alluring as it is complex. Exotic Middle Eastern motifs merge gracefully with the evocative sounds of Eastern European klezmer music. Beautifully conceived folk passages are followed by perfectly executed Mahavishnu-inspired pyrotechnics. The passion and urgency at which this group plays is heard in every note…” (Minor 7th Magazine).

PSI-Paul Stranahan’s Insomnia (progressive jazz/rock fusion) will open up for Rochester, NY's jazz-fusion/world/experimental trio, The Moho Collective who make their first appearance in Akron as they tour in support of their debut album. It should be an incredible evening of music! PSI will have Jeremey Poparad on guitar, Paul on drums and welcomes new bassist Matthew DeRubertis. And by the way . . . This is a FREE show!

Tuesday, May 31, 2011 starting around 10:00 pm @ AllGoSigns Factory (1935 W. 96th Cleveland, 44102. 216-229-9711). The Straw/Stranahan Duo will be performing. This is a brand new project and will be a debut performance. Brian Straw plays an instrument you have to see and hear for yourself. The best way to describe it is a combination of a gas can and a cello hooked up to a bunch of weird effects. The other half of the duo is Paul on drums. It will be all improvised/avant/atmospheric weirdness.

Two bands that Paul is involved with have been selected out of hundreds of American acts to perform a great international music festival in Belfort, France.
